About The Book

THE STORY OF BABY ‘L’

by Mary Jane Springer

THE STORY OF BABY ‘L’ started as a small seed and developed into a delightful story for children. It is unique because the unborn child is telling the tale of what his life is like while living inside of his mother’s womb. He imagines life and love in the outside world.

This book is remarkable, given that I am unaware of any published children’s books of this nature.

Hugs to my granddaughter Avery who helped me to capture the heartbeat of Baby ‘L’, by adding grace and charm to the adorable pictures in the book.

Very Respectfully,
Mary Jane Springer

The Story of

Baby ‘L’

MARY JANE SPRINGER

Dada doesn’t like to use naughty words.

So he says things like: That’s fer darn tootin’ and pickles.

Mama eats pickles…and I like pickles.

But Mama’s favorite treats are olives.

I only like the Greek ones.

Green olives give me the hiccups.

Hiccups are yucky!

Mama enjoying a pickle.

I wrote The Story of Baby ‘L’ for my one year old grandson, Larson before he was born. I placed photos in a picture album to go along with the story. I wanted him to be able to imagine what was happening in the world around him. I would like all children to read this story and imagine the time before they came into this world.

A Little About Myself.

In this way, he could imagine (when he is older) what was going on in the world around him.

Reviews

A delightful narrative with enduring pictures of free and unspoiled innocence of what life will probably be like from an unborn child getting ready to join life outside the womb. Get ready to smile!

I can’t read this book without a dry eye. Mary captures the essence of what a baby may be thinking and feeling before he is born. Heartwarming and uplifting for all ages.

This is a great book to read to your child when Mom is expecting!…Well told from the perspective of the baby inside.
David McIntyre

Baby L is a beautiful story about a child’s perspective of life inside and outside of the womb. Baby L’s voice allows you to hear a child’s love for the world and their family before they even enter the “real” world. I think that this narrative can impact society in a positive way to show that life begins in the womb. And, it is also a very heartfelt and touching story to be read with your child simply for pure enjoyment. Life is precious. 🙂

I wrote this story for Avery (my beautiful, loving, and giving granddaughter) when she turned eight-years-old.

“My darling Avery, I want you to have this fairy sculpture to remind you to dream the impossible dream. If you believe in yourself (and above ALL, GOD) all of your dreams will come true.”

“I love you with all of my heart. Find a special place in your yard and make it your own.”

GABRIELLA

A fairy princess named Gabriella flitted over the river and through the forest until she reached her destination—a covered glen hidden within the patchwork of many shapes and colors. It was her secret garden. A place where she would prance and dance, or sing, or dream. A quiet shelter far away from the outside world. She called it her window of enchantment.

Tall thick trees reached up to the sky so bright; and the yellow sun draped rays on to the clumps of moss that ran up and down the rocks as though they were looking for a new adventure. A crooked gate hung loosely and fell on to the burnt brick courtyard that stretched toward a grotto before its path disappeared into the coolness of the hollow.

A bed of multi-colored wildflowers sprung up, breathing life into the forest, and the butterflies and hummingbirds kissed them in gratitude of their presence.

Gabriella had a special friend. A tortoise named Harvey who carried her on his back. They would share visions of wonder with each other—giggle for a space or two and then silence would ensue as they relished the uniqueness of their spiritual friendship.
